Summer colors are typically bright, light, and airy! Light neutrals also work for the warmer months.

Fall colors can be beautiful if done right. It's typically a better idea to stick with neutrals and muted tones to let the nature around you pop.

Pastels are classic for spring time - just be careful to go easy on them to make sure you don't look like an Easter egg!

Winter tones are usually more muted and dark, but a pop of color against the white snow is also a beautiful choice!
Quick Tips:
1) Coordinate without "matching"
Gone are the days of matching white tees and jeans - be sure to coordinate outfits with similar color schemes. For instance, if your colors are blue, gray, and yellow, incorporate elements of each throughout everyone's outfits rather than simply having everyone wear the same thing.

2) Layer up!
Adding layers allows for some playfulness as well as the ability to change up the outfits midway through the session. Add a scarf that can also be used to wrap around the two of you in cold weather, a jacket that can be thrown over your shoulder, or a cardigan to add visual interest.
3) Texture or pattern?
Playing with patterns can get tricky - you don't want to go too small or too busy with your patterns. If you do include them, make sure they are big and more geometric. Patterns too small or complicated can steal the attention away from the face. Make sure to not go overboard on patterns in a group setting, use them with only a couple people or the image will be far too busy. DEFINITELY avoid graphics as well. Texture is a great way to add visual interest without stealing the attention away from the subjects.

4) Dress for the occasion
Be sure to choose an outfit that works with the place and time of year. For instance, boots, scarves, and hats are definitely appropriate for fall and winter. Jackets and handbags can be used in a more urban environment. Shooting at the beach? Wear something light and flowy that will show movement.
5) Props, props, props!
I ALWAYS recommend a good prop! The right prop can add so much visual interest and can also easily personalize an image. Does your baby have a blanket that grandma made them? Does your senior have a varsity jacket to represent their favorite sport? Bring it on over!

6) Lastly, avoid a lot of contrast
Beware of too much contrast. Whites and blacks can be difficult to expose, especially if you wear them together. Too much white in general can draw the eye away from the subject, so use it sparingly.
